Research your school!
Knowing as much as possible about the school you are applying to, shows the leaders in that school you care about and are willing to go the extra mile. Try and find out as much about this as possible.
- What is the name of the headteacher and head of the department you are applying to?
- Where in the UK is the school situated? (Use a map – know the town/county)
- What values do the school feel are essential? (how do these align with your own)

- Have you researched your subject-specific area on the school website?
- What curriculum do they teach and how is it similar to what you have taught previously?
- What exam boards do the school use?
- Does the school have a ‘motto’?
