Your relocation to the UK is all about you and your circumstances. Whether you are planning on staying 3 – 6 months, or for the duration of your two year visa, we’re here to support you for all of your time in the UK. When making the decision about how long you want to stay in the UK, it’s important to note that when you apply for your Youth Mobility visa, you are paying for the full two years!
Here at Bounce Teachers, we want to give our Overseas Teachers the flexibility in deciding the type of work they receive, along with the longevity of the assignment. When you register with us, we’ll ask if you are looking for a long-term/full-time teaching job, or if you’d prefer to start with casual substitute teaching roles. Our full-time positions generally require a 3-month, 6-month or 1-year commitment. However, if for any reason you aren’t happy with the school that you are placed in, we’ll support you with finding another school position that’s a better match.
If you have a city or location in mind, we can look to match you to schools in your preferred region! On the other hand, if you don’t have your heart set on a specific region, we can help guide you to an ideal location based on your needs and preferences.
Yes, we’ve had teachers bring their furry friends to the UK with them before! You’ll need to obtain specific documents (such as a pet passport) and work out the best route into the UK with your pet, but it’s certainly possible!
Many of our teachers travel to the UK with their partners, siblings, or other friends who may not be in the field of education. As long as they are eligible for the Youth Mobility Visa, or an alternative visa that gives them the right to work in the UK, they’ll be able to come along for the journey! Have a chat with Hannah about the different options available! |
You can apply for your Youth Mobility Visa up to 6 months before your arrival. For an August arrival, we recommend getting started on your application between March-May time. Other visa routes may vary. Click here for our Visa Application Guide.
The average Youth Mobility Visa is processed within 6 weeks of the initial application date, but a couple of different factors can influence the timeline. Hannah will guide you through the process when the time to apply comes.
We’re here to offer you full support in finding your accommodation. We’ll call letting agencies on your behalf, suggest safe and affordable areas to live in, and provide you with job confirmation letters so you can move seamlessly into your accommodation.
A good rule of thumb is to arrive at least 2 – 3 weeks before your teaching role begins. For a September start, this is around mid-August. Many of our teachers decide to arrive in June/July to get some European travel in, before settling down in the UK. It’s entirely up to you!
We have flexible start dates, so as long as we have notice there is always a solution. Speak with Hannah about your specific circumstances, so you can create a tailored timeline just for you.
We’ll be hosting an induction session in August, which will provide you with support and guidance for adapting to life in the UK, including the UK Curriculum. If you’d like to find out more information sooner, click here to see information about the National Curriculum.
The Youth Mobility Visa costs £298 to apply. You’ll also be asked to contribute towards a health surcharge which is your access to the NHS (National Health Service). The health surcharge is £776 per year. As the longevity of the Youth Mobility visa is two years, the total health surcharge contribution is £1,552. The total cost of your application works out to £1,850. Figures are correct at the time of writing but will vary depending on the type of visa that you’re applying for.
We’re an entirely free, no-strings-attached service!
